FAQs
What can I expect from therapy?
The first couple of sessions we spend getting to know each other, while I get a full picture of your situation, and the reason why you sought counseling. We will then work together to identify your goals for counseling. This will help both of us track your progress and ensure that you accomplish the most out of therapy. Next, we’ll engage in therapeutic work, and I will provide support by actively listening to you and understanding your experiences. I will give you insight into some of the problems you are experiencing, provide psycho-education regarding mental health conditions, share coping techniques to promote your mental health, and continue to encourage you to work towards your goals. During this time, we will do regular check-ins to ensure that you are benefitting from the therapeutic relationship. If your goals change or you feel a lull in therapy, I hope to provide a warm, safe environment for you to be open and transparent, so that we can make needed changes to improve our work together. It is my hope that you will reach a point where you feel you have achieved your goals and have learned skills to continue to have a thriving life, even after therapy.
How long should I be in therapy and how often?
This depends on each individual and the severity of the concern you come to therapy with. In my experience, clients get the most out of therapy from attending weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Some clients accomplish their goals for therapy in several months, while others continue for a year or more. We will periodically check in to ensure you are getting exactly what you need from sessions and assess the best frequency for you to attend. When you feel prepared to leave counseling, we will ensure that you have a great plan to sustain the growth and tools that you learned, once outside of the clinical setting.
Do you take insurance?
I do not accept any insurance at this time. I encourage you to outreach your insurance provider to confirm if/how they reimburse out-of-network mental health appointments. I am able to provide a superbill to summarize the services you receive for insurance reimbursement. All major credit and debit cards are accepted (including FSA and HSA cards).
